1 Timothy 5:8 (KJV)8 But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.
I am amazed at the number of Christians that proudly complain about the current Food stamp crisis, due to the government shut down in the U.S.A.; I am not surprised, just amazed. Individuals, particularly women, are using social media to complain that the government is not providing for their household. What is shocking is the number of individuals who state they will resort to stealing! Do these individuals have a church that they belong to? Or do they just have a form of godliness but deny the powers thereof, resulting in lack? Scripture teaches we should stay away from those people, and I do. (2 Timothy 3:5)
It is written: We are to provide for our household and if you do not work you do not eat. How plain is that? No where in the Bible does it say the government is to supply all of our needs. In fact Scripture is clear (Philippians 4:19) that God will supply your need, singular, according to His riches not the governments treasury.
2 Thessalonians 3:10-12 (KJV)10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.11 For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.12 Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.
There are church leaders who preach a “give money to the church and God will give you more so you can get stuff” message, that is NOT what the word teaches. Scripture does teach about those who do not work and are “busybodies”. Social media is full of busybodies, far to many individuals give money to the church and are still waiting for their “blessing”. God seeks obedience to His word not your money, yes we are to give for the kingdom.
